Morphological Gap - Analysis Using GMA to find the

چکیده

Gap-analysis is the process of structuring and comparing two different situations or states in order to determine the difference or “gap” that exists between them. Once the “gap” is understood – and possibly also the “distance” between the states measured or otherwise assessed – it may then be possible to identify the steps or processes required to bridge the gap. General Morphological Analysis (GMA) is a non-quantified modelling method that employs a process and a spatial format that makes gap-analyses intrinsic. This article will summarise GMA and give examples of how it can be used as a computer based gap-analysis support method. The examples concern 1) an organisational change model, 2) a model for assessing preparedness requirements for rescue services and 3) a knowledge management tool for identifying the gaps between knowledge bases and knowledge requirements.

Experiencing GMA as a means of developing a conceptual model of the problem space involving understanding cascading effects in crises

A complex challenge facing those involved in crisis management relates to how to manage cascading effects in crisis situations. This paper provides a practice-based insight into the use of General Morphological Analysis (GMA), a non-quantified modelling method that can enable a shared understanding of the various interdependencies involved in cascading crises, by creating a conceptual model of ...

General Morphological Analysis as a Basic Scientific Modelling Method

General Morphological Analysis (GMA) is a method for structuring a conceptual problem space – called a morphospace – and, through a process of existential combinatorics, synthesising a solution space. As such, it is a basic modelling method, on a par with other scientific modelling methods including System Dynamics Modelling, Bayesian Networks and various types graph-based “influence diagrams”....

Strategic Decision Support using Computerised Morphological Analysis

General Morphological Analysis (GMA), pioneered by Fritz Zwicky at the California Institute of Technology in the 1930s and 40s, was developed as a method for structuring and investigating the total set of relationships contained in multi-dimensional, non-quantifiable, problem complexes. During the past 15 years, GMA has been extended, computerized and applied in developing futures scenarios, st...

General Morphological Analysis A general method for non-quantified modelling

Fritz Zwicky pioneered the development of General Morphological Analysis (GMA) as a method for investigating the totality of relationships contained in multi-dimensional, nonquantifiable problem complexes. During the past two decades, GMA has been extended, computerised and employed for structuring complex policy and planning issues, developing scenario and strategy laboratories, and analyzing ...

MA/Start: Specifying Training and Instruction Requirements using Morphological Analysis

Training and instruction (T&I) is increasingly based on advanced learning tools such as e-learning, simulators and virtual environments. In order to utilise these tools in an effective way, a first set of global requirements for T&I programs should be specified in order to identify appropriate needs and effective instructional methods. General Morphological Analysis (GMA) is a non-quantified mo...
